The Kagadi district security committee has called for violence-free campaigns ahead of the forthcoming lower local government elections.
This was revealed as the security team and NRM Electoral Commission officers engaged in a planning meeting with the candidates for the lower local government positions ahead of July 14th NRM primaries for the Sub-County chairpersons, councilors and special interest groups.
The meeting convened at URDT Multipurpose Hall in Kagadi town council, on Monday, chaired by the Resident District Commission (RDC) Kagadi, Caroline Kashaija Muyambi.
Speaking during the meeting Kashaija cautioned candidates to shun electoral malpractices such as multiple voting, ferrying of voters, voter bribery and other irregularities, warning that perpetrators will be disqualified from the race.
The Kagadi district NRM Elections Officer Patrick Mbasiima warned candidates vying for positions on the NRM ticket to avoid violence, campaigns of identity, hate speech, and vulgar language in their campaigns. He urgeed aspirants and their supporters to focus on issues rather than personal attacks.
Candidates in attendance commended security and NRM leaders for organizing the meeting ahead of the 14th August, 2025, NRM primaries.
They expressed positive prospects from the resolutions of the meeting and called for the concerned authorities to implement them to create impact on ground.
