Unknown people have killed a couple in Nkooko sub-county, Kakumiro district.
The dead have been identified as Pasitol Kamagu, 69, and Maria Nyangoma, 40, both residents of the same area.
The assailants, armed with machetes, raided the couple’s home on Monday at 11 p.m. and hacked the duo to death. Both victims were severely hacked on the head, hands, neck and back.
Isreal Mfashingabo, a resident, explains that they heard the duo screaming for help and rushed only to find them lying in a pool of blood in their compound while the assailants had fled.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson, says that the hunt for the suspects has commenced and appealed to residents to cooperate with detectives on the ground by providing crucial information.
