Eight incumbent Hoima district councilors have been defeated in yesterday’s National Resistance movement (NRM) Local Council V primaries held across the twelve sub counties and two town councils.
In Kiganja Sub County, Jackson Mugenyi Mulindambura lost the flag to Lizira Orom Ashraf in the primaries for Kiganja Sub County. Orom garnered 954 votes against Mulindambura’s 856 votes.
Rukidi Oscar, the deputy speaker for Hoima district council and male councillor for Kitoba Sub County was defeated in the Thursday primaries by Nelson Ayebale. Rukidi obtained 1,636 votes against Ayebale’s 2,521 votes.
In Buraru Sub County, Ajuna Rogers polled 1,183 votes defeating incumbent Patrick Rusoke who obtained 1,075 votes in the primaries held across the sub county.
Allen Kabagire, the incumbent district councilor for Kijongo sub county lost the flag to Vincent Ntegeka. Allen obtained 591 votes while Vincent secure 751 votes winning the flag ahead of the 2026 general elections.
Cate Tumuhaise lost the flag to Badaru Irene Nabbada for the position of female district councilor for Kyabigambire Sub County and Bulindi town council. Nabbada won the flag with 1,873 votes while Tumuhaise obtained 642 votes.
Doreen Komukyeya also lost the party flag on the position of female district councilor for Buraru Sub County. Frida Kabagahya who obtained 2,452 votes defeated Komukyeya who garnered 779 votes.
Chiche Benson, the incumbent district councilor for Buhanika Sub County also lost the flag to Emmanuel Byanganga. Chiche obtained 857 votes against Byanganga’s 1,600 votes.
Meanwhile Naume Koojo, a member of the Hoima district executive committee obtained 3,504 votes in yesterday’s polls losing the party flag to Judith Ayesiza who secured 5, 968 votes.
