As the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party prepares to hold the primaries elections for the LC5 chairpersons and district councillors on Thursday 24th this week, all candidates and their supporters have been called up on to maintain peace to facilitate free and fair elections.
In an interview with Spice FM on Tuesday, the Kagadi district NRM elections officer Patrick Mbasiima said all electoral materials and designated polling stations have been well organized, expressing their readiness to hold free and fair elections in the district.
He however warned candidates against engaging in electoral malpractices such as campaigning beyond the deadline which is Tuesday midnight, vote rigging, voter bribery, multiple voting, intimidation, among others, warning that culprits would be penalized.
Mbasiima reiterates their commitment to uphold transparence, during the electoral process. He further urges the electorate to maintain peace and exercise their civic rights of choosing their own leaders without any interference.
