Several local and national leaders have praised the late Patrick Jolly Baguma Ateenyi, the former Forum for Democratic Change- FDC party Vice Chairperson for Western Uganda for exhibiting integrity and always speaking his mind for the entire life he has lived on earth.
The late Baguma who served as FDC vice president under Col. Rtd. Dr. Warren Kiiza Besigye Kifefe and later Vice President FDC Western under Gen. Rtd. Mugisha Muntu lost his life in a road accident along the Entebbe Expressway on Friday night.
The leaders made the remarks during the burial ceremony held on Monday afternoon in Katasiha cell in Hoima west division, Hoima City.
Francis Atugonza, the former Mayor Hoima Town Council has disclosed that Baguma exhibited patriotism in his entire life which showed his love for Uganda as he struggled for good leadership and development.
John Kikonyogo, the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Spokesperson praised the late Baguma for representing Bunyoro very well in advocating for change saying FDC has lost a founding member at a young age.
Nyakato Asinansi, the Hoima City Woman MP disclosed that the late Baguma connected them with the Speaker of Parliament Anita Among who has been supportive of Bunyoro projects since she endorsed Hoima Stadium, naming of Kabalega international Airport and has also supported Bunyoro leaders by allowing them to address Bunyoro issues on the floor of parliament.
The very reverend canon Eric Twine, the dean St Peter’s cathedral while leading the service praised the late for always speaking his mind, urging people to front God in all their work saying any one without God is nothing.
He said that when one trusts God and believes in him, he/she is assured of life after death.
He also condemned acts of tarnishing and blackmailing people especially if they have political and religious differences saying, “we need each other”.
