Six Incumbent MPs Defeated in Bunyoro Sub Region

At least six incumbent members of parliament in the Bunyoro sub-region have been defeated in the NRM primaries.

They include Jenepher Mbabazi Kyomuhendo, the incumbent Kagadi district Woman MP, who lost to Margret Naziwa. Naziwa polled 75,962 votes against Kyomuhendo’s 47,078 votes. Apofia Kyomukama came third with 8,528 votes.

Another loser is Erick Musana Acaali, the incumbent MP for Buyaga East constituency in Kagadi district, who lost to Stephen Twesige Ruleker,e who polled 45,600 votes against Acaali’s 24,383 votes. Obed Ambikize secured the third position with 630 votes.

In Hoima West Division, Joseph Ruyonga, the incumbent MP, lost to Donald Bakiire, who gathered 4,777 votes against Ruyonga’s 4,515 votes. Ronald Tumusiime came last with 1,451 votes.

In Kigorobya County of Hoima district, the incumbent MP David Karubanga lost to Dr Gerald Kasigwa, who polled 9,938 votes while Karubanga secured 6,619 votes.

In Bugangaizi East Constituency of Kakumiro district, the incumbent MP Aisaha Black Agaba lost to Onesmus Twinamasiko, a former journalist at Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC). Twinamasiko polled 19,762 votes, representing 41.87 percent, while Agaba gathered 14,300 votes, representing 30.3 percent.

Godfrey Kusiima emerged in the third position after he gathered 12,173 votes, while Deogratius Karubanga emerged in the fourth position after he garnered 966 votes.

In Buyaga West Constituency of Kagadi district, Barnabas Tinkasiimire, the incumbent MP, lost to Dennis Namara. Namara gathered 48,166 votes while Tinkasiimire polled 18,288 votes.

James Byarugaba came third with 16,151 votes, while Johnson Habasa secured the fourth position after garnering 503 votes, whereas Johnson Hashaka secured the fifth position after garnering 55 votes. John Tumwebaze came last with 2 votes.
