The Masindi district security committee headed by the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Darius Nandinda has suspended the operationalization of markets in the district on the polling day for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) primaries.
While addressing the media in his office on Tuesday, Nandinda said that the security committee has resolved to suspend the operationalization of markets on NRM primaries polling day which is on Thursday July 17 since it will affect the turn up of voters and transfer of sub county party registrars since there are allegations of connivance.
He also explains they have resolved to allow five people from each contestant at the tally center, close some roads and also deploy heavily in the town and within the tally center.
Nandinda has assured the public that they are going to protect the votes right from the village to the tally center and they will deploy both the police and army at the polling stations.
He appeals to the voters to turn up early for voting but avoid loitering at other polling stations.
Moses Ogwang, the Masindi district NRM registrar says they have had peaceful campaigns and have not registered chaos among both the contestants and supporters.
He therefore confirms that they will hold the party MP primaries on Thursday July 17, 2025 thus appealing to the voters to turn up for election because they will be preparing the polling stations by 7AM.
Ogwang noted that they have suspended the campaigns for other positions on polling day and they will not permit rallies but candidates can do door to door campaigns after the elections.
The party registrar also assures the electorates that they will conduct free and fair elections.
