Police in Kakumiiro has arrested and detained a 30-year-old man for being in possession with a toy pistol.
The suspect Moses Kansiime was arrested on Sunday in Nyakagera cell, Kaboijana ward, Igayaza town council.
Julius Allan Hakiiza the Albertine region police spokesperson says police through intelligence received information that there was an individual with a pistol at a local bar which raises concern among the bar goers.
Hakiiza says police from Kakumiiro and Igayaza launched out an operation which led to the arrested of Kansiime and the toy gun was recovered from the suspect’s house.
The Albertine region police mouthpiece says cases of armed robbery have been on the rise in the district and they suspect Kansiime could have been part of the gang that has been terrorizing the area adding that investigations are underway.
He has warned individuals engaged in robbery and has asked the general public to keep providing information that can lead to the arrest of such people.
