A man in Busiisi East cell Hoima West division is on the run after cutting off a hand of a colleague following a misunderstanding allegedly related to political differences.
The victim has only been identified as Albert a resident of Kasingo cell while the suspect is only identified as Agote a resident in the area. The victim was rushed at Kabalega medical Centre where he is currently receiving treatment.
This incident which has happened this morning follows Tuesday afternoon clashes between the supporters of Dr Joseph Ruyonga the Incumbent Member of Parliament and Donald Bakire Bategeka in Buswekera South cell, Kihukya ward.
According to Robert Bisoborwa, a resident in the area, the two men developed the differences following a political rally in Buswekera and allegedly Agote promised to revenge any time adding that the suspect even bought a panga last evening that he used to harm the victim. He has condemned the act and asked the locals to maintain peace in the area during elections.
Godfrey Mbabazi, the LCI Chairperson of the area has confirmed the incident and added that differences between the two individuals started from a political rally between the camp of Dr Ruyonga and Bategeka. He adds that they left Buswekera and came to Busiisi where they still engaged in a fight which prompted the suspect to buy a panga for revenge.
Mbabazi has disclosed that political candidates are mostly peaceful, but it is their supporters who are engaged in violent activities which he has strongly condemned.
Julius Allan Hakiiza, the Albertine regional police spokesperson, confirms the incident without divulging into details.
