Masindi Farmers Receive Post-Harvest Handling Equipment

Famers from different parts of Masindi district on Thursday received post-harvest handling materials from the government to improve the quality of agricultural products.

Speaking to the beneficiaries, Job Byaruhanga the district agricultural officer said the farmers received 20 maize thresher and 200 tarpaulins from the ministry of agriculture that have been handed over to beneficiary groups from six sub-counties including Bwijanga, Kijunjubwa, Labongo, Miirya, Pakanyi and Kiruli.

Byaruhanga disclosed that the items are worth shs185 million adding that Pakanyi got 4 maize thresher, Bwijanga 4 maize thresher, Miirya 4 maize thresher, Labbongo 4, Kijunjubwa 1 maize thresher and Kiruli 3 maize threshers while each sub county got 33 tarpaulins.

Musa Kyamiza, the Assistant Secretary in the office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) said the government has been doing interventions such as Emyooga and PDM all aimed at fighting poverty at household level.

He asked the beneficiaries to make good use of the materials to improve their household income.

While handing over the items to the beneficiaries, the assistant RDC Tugume Helen, emphasized on the spirit of teamwork as they utilize the items received.
