Hoima City Council Passes SH22.15BN Budget

Hoima city council has on Thursday passed a UGX 22.15 billion for the financial year 2025/26. This was during a continuation of a council sitting held at HB Hotel.

The budget draft was presented to the council by Hon Slyvia Nalumaga Balyesiima, the city deputy mayor and seconded by Hon Idd Magezi and Hon Joshua Byenkya, the division male councillors in East and West divisions respectively.

Nalumaga noted that in the new budget, they intend to raise local revenue amounting to UGX 4.377billion up from UGX 3billion that was budgeted in the concluding financial year while other funds from be from the central government among other sources.

Among the key priorities that took the lion’s share in the new financial year include education, health, works, administration, digital transformation among others.

Joshua Byenkya, the Hoima west division male councillor says the budget is pro people and has rallied the residents to play their part of contributing to the budget by paying their taxes on time.

Idd Magezi the Hoima East male councillor has however tasked the technical staff at the city to commit towards ensuring the funds budgeted for are collected on time in order to enhance service delivery in the new financial year.
