The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has postponed the district and city structure elections in the Bunyoro sub-region. The elections, which were initially scheduled for May 23rd, 2025, have been pushed to May 27th, 2025, according to a letter dated May 19th from Dr. Tanga Odoi, the Chairperson of the NRM Electoral Commission.

“Following the scheduled President’s visit to the Bunyoro sub-region on Friday, 23rd May 2025, the commission has extended party structure elections in the Bunyoro sub-region to Tuesday, 27th May 2025. Please adjust accordingly,” reads the letter addressed to District Election Officers in the region.

Preparations are in high gear in Kikuube District to welcome President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who is expected to preside over a thanksgiving ceremony for Grace Mary Mugasa, the State Minister for Public Service. The event will be held in appreciation of the gift of life.

The president is also expected to address a public rally after the Thanksgiving ceremony, during which he will speak to key issues affecting residents in the Bunyoro sub-region. The NRM is currently conducting countrywide elections for its party structures.
