Residents of Pakanyi village in Pakanyi Sub County Buruli County in Masindi district have launched a hunt on a man who is on the run, after allegedly killing his own mother.

The suspect identified as Anatoli Irumba, 30, allegedly hit his 70-year-old mother Joyce Nyangireki with a pestle, following a disagreement over food on Tuesday.

He had just been released from prison two days ago.
The area LC1 chairperson, Ronald Byabasaijahas told our reporter that after the incident, Anatoli ran towards Masindi-town.

According to the chairman, residents rushed Joyce to Masindi Main hospital for treatment but she died shortly after her referral to Hoima regional referral hospital.

Byabasaija says the suspect is an ex-convict of attempted murder, who had just been rescued from Masindi-prison by his deceased mother, last-week.

The area female councilor, Ms. Florence Katusabe said the suspect has been a notorious drug abuser.

We could not get a comment from the police by press time.
Meanwhile, residents have intensified the hunt for Anatoli as the burial for Joyce is scheduled for tomorrow, in Pakanyi Sub County.
