The Hoima West Member of Parliament Dr. Joseph Ruyonga has advised students in Hoima City to embrace vocational skills as one way of creating employment opportunities after school time.

Dr. Ruyonga made the remarks on Saturday while addressing students at Nile Vocational Institute Duhaga in Hoima West City Division, Hoima Oil City where he delivered three electronic sewing machines worth UGX 3million to the institute to support in skilling the students.

Ruyonga disclosed that government is currently focusing on skilling all Ugandans and that is why it came up with the skilling Uganda Program adding that the young people need to equip themselves with these vocational skills for self-employment and creating jobs for others.

He notes that the jobs for graduates from Universities are very scarce and competitive.

Bachelor Atuheire, the Principal Nile Vocational Institute Duhaga, rallied students to enroll for vocational studies in order to prepare themselves for the future and also commended the legislator for the timely support.
