Police in Hoima City have arrested and detained their own for allegedly shooting dead an unidentified male adult last night.
The suspect is AIP Reuben Kwihangana, a scene of crime officer (SOCO) attached to Hoima Rural police station. The incident occurred in Lusaka lower cell in Hoima West division, in Hoima City.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred after the officer collided with the deceased who were both riding motorcycles whose registration numbers were unavailable by press time.
After the collision, a ccuffle ensued between the two leading to the officer to pull out a pistol and shoot the deceased several times killing him instantly.
The witnesses have condemned the act of the officer over the misuse of the gun which is supposed to protect the people instead of shooting them when a disagreement happens.
Julius Allan Hakiiza, the Albertine Refional Police Spokesperson has confirmed the incident adding that they have arrested and detained their own as investigations get underway.
He adds that police detectives have visited the crime scene and discovered 12 cartridges.
