Parents and guardians in Hoima district have been warned against keeping at home and using their children during the ongoing planting season as schools fight to complete the new curriculum for first term learning.
Since Mid-March, several areas in Hoima district and across the entire country have received normal and above normal rains and many farmers are currently engaged in planting exercise to catch up with the season.
However, Amos Isaac Bitamale, the district Senior Probation and Social Welfare Officer, warns parents not to use their children in gardens when it is school time adding that they risk being rounded up by the responsible authorities.
He advises that parents can use the children for the garden work on weekends such that they don’t miss the content being taught at the learning Institutions under the new curriculum which requires full time presence of learners.
Bitamale has tipped learners to report parents and guardians to responsible authorities especially those who are subjecting them to activities at home rather than sending them to schools.
