The Uganda Peoples’ Defense Forces-UPDF in conjunction with Uganda police have this morning conducted a cleaning exercise in Hoima City, ahead of the 44th Tarehe Sita commemorations.

The Minister of Defence and Veteran Affairs, Jacob Oboth-Oboth, early January announced that this year’s 44th Tarehe Sita Anniversary celebrations will take place in the Greater Masaka region.

The celebrations will be held under the theme, “Celebrating Pan-African Solidarity and the Peoples’ Sacrifice in Struggle for Freedom and Democracy for Socio-economic Transformation.”

Now speaking during the cleaning exercise along Sir Tito Winyi Road in Hoima West division Hoima City, the Albertine region police spokesperson Julius Allan Hakiza says police has decided to join UPDF for the cleaning exercise due to the good working cooperation they have enjoyed with the nation’s forces.

He says this has been done to show the public that it is important to leave in a healthy environment, requesting them to avoid littering garbage recklessly in the City.

Tarehe Sita commemorates the launch of the National Resistance Army’s (NRA) liberation struggle that kicked off on February 6, 1981
