Three people died on spot while seven others sustained severe injuries in an accident that occurred in Buliisa district on Wednesday.
The accident involved a Fuso Lorry with registration number UBQ 912R coming from Zeu market located in Zombo district while carrying unauthorized goods like timber among others together with passengers.
Julius Allan Hakiiza, the Albertine regional police spokesperson says the driver of the lorry lost control and veered off the road causing the vehicle to overturn multiple times, before killing three people on spot and injuring others.
The identities of the deceased were not available by press time however Hakiza says they include an adult and two juveniles adding that the accident could have been due to overloading.
Hakiza cautions drivers to avoid driving recklessly because it is one of the leading cause of road carnage in the region.
