Busoga Kingdom has unveiled a lineup of grand events to celebrate the 36th birthday of His Majesty, the Kyabazinga of Busoga. Announced by Owekitiibwa Haji Osman Ahmed Noor, the Kingdom’s 2nd Deputy Prime Minister, these celebrations are designed to bolster cultural pride and unity under the theme “Transforming Busoga through Sports and Culture.”
The festivities will begin with an exclusive Royal Banquet on Saturday, December 14, at Igenge Palace. Kingdom officials, esteemed guests, and cultural dignitaries will gather to honor the Kyabazinga’s leadership and contributions. This invitation-only event will commence at 2:00 pm.
On Sunday, December 15, His Majesty will host a special “Service to the Kingdom” event from 7:00 am to 11:00 am at the Busoga Kingdom Headquarters. This gathering symbolizes his dedication to his subjects and commitment to unity within the Busoga region.
A highlight of the celebrations will be the MTN Busoga Masaza Cup Final, held at the Kyabazinga Stadium in Bugembe. The thrilling match, scheduled for 2:00 pm, will determine the Kingdom’s top chiefdom team, showcasing the Kingdom’s commitment to sports as a unifying force. Following the final, a high-profile friendly match will feature Busoga United against the Uganda Cranes at 4:00 pm. Gates open to the public at 9:00 am, with tickets priced at UGX 5,000 (general admission), UGX 2,000 (MTN MoMo Pay), and UGX 25,000 for VIP seating.
MTN Uganda, the official sponsor of the Masaza Cup, was represented at the announcement by Denis Harindimana, Regional Marketing Manager. Kingdom ministers in attendance included Owekitiibwa Yudaya Babirye (Kyabazinga Affairs), Amin Bbosa (Sports), Dan Musota (Sports), Mukembo James (Youth Affairs), and Ntange Andrew (Protocol), each expressing enthusiasm for these efforts to promote cultural heritage and unity through sports.
The MTN Busoga Masaza Cup, now in its final rounds, has fostered spirited competition and camaraderie across the Kingdom. The quarterfinals are set for November 8 and 9, followed by the semi-finals and third-place play-off, culminating in the grand final on December 15.
