Unknown assailants have raided Busana cell in Kabalega ward, Kibaale town council, resulting in the murder of a woman. The deceased has been identified as Margret Night, 46, whose lifeless body was discovered dumped in a nearby bush within the same village.
The incident occurred on Sunday night at an unknown time, with the body found on Monday morning. Information obtained by Spice FM indicates that the deceased’s body exhibited multiple injuries to the head, neck, and both hands.
Stephen Balirola, a resident of the area, explained that after carrying out their attack, the assailants disposed of Night’s body in the nearby bush. He mentioned that Night was last seen in the area on Sunday evening and expressed confusion as to why she would have been targeted.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson, stated that investigations have commenced to determine the motive behind the attack. He noted that while the suspects remain at large, efforts are underway to apprehend them.
The police have transported the body to the Kibaale Health Center IV mortuary, where it is currently awaiting a postmortem examination. Murder cases in the Albertine region have been on the rise. In September, the police recorded 38 murder cases in the area.
Statistics from the Albertine regional police headquarters indicated that Kagadi topped the list with 10 cases, followed by Kikuube with 6 cases, and Kakumiro with 5 cases. Other districts reported 4 cases in Kiryandongo, 4 in Masindi, 3 in Kibaale, 3 in Hoima, 2 in Hoima City, and 1 in Buliisa.
Most of these murders have been attributed to domestic violence, mob justice, and land disputes, among other factors.
