Business operators in Hoima City have raised concerns over unstable power supply that is hurting their enterprises leading to losses.
In most areas in the Central business area like Kijungu, Busisi and Kiryatete, most business operators have complained of unstable power supply for the past two weeks without explanation from UMEME, power distributor.
In the event of unstable power in the city, business operators resorted to using generators which is costly hence hurting their businesses.
The residents blame UMEME over the inconsistent power supply in the city because they never inform the public in time of the power blackouts and this is not the first time.
Now the Hoima city mayor Brian Kaboyo condemns the power inconsistences something that has resulted into losses and high costs of running businesses in the city.
Kaboyo says he has already engaged the UMEME officials over the matter and they have always raised the outgaes due to the need for maintenance in different areas in the city.
He calls for calm among the residents and calls on UMEME officials to ensure they stabilize the power supply in the city.
Our efforts to get a comment from the UMEME Hoima branch manager Mr Patrick Ssebalamu were futile since he did not pick our repeated calls.
