The Hoima Resident City Commissioner (RCC) Badru Mugabi says the main construction works of the long awaited Bunyoro Public University now await launching by President Yoweri Museveni to take shape.
In an exclusive interview with Spice FM, Mugabi says the UPDF Engineering Brigade led by Lieutenant Colonel Peter Kidamuka has already commenced construction of the workers’ camp for the University adding that the next step will be to kick off the main construction works after the President’s official launch.
President Museveni is expected to tour Bunyoro region starting November 15 for the four acre model campaign among other activities.
Mugabi now calls upon people in Bunyoro who had lost hope of the region ever having a public university to remain calm, assuring them that the process is on course and progressing well as planned.
The contractor of Bunyoro Public University toured the site at Bulera Core Primary Teachers College in Hoima City in August this year to start preliminary works. The College offered 20 acres of land for the establishment of a public university out of the 42 acres they own.
Surveyors from the Ministry of Lands surveyed the said piece of land to ascertain the total acreage that the College donated. The UPDF Engineering Brigade will undertake the construction of the University.
