The Federation of Uganda Employer (FUE) has today Wednesday launched the Albertine employer of the year award 2024 survey with a focus on job creation in a bid to fight the high level of unemployment in the country.

During the launch of the survey that took place at Mika Eco Resort hotel in Hoima City, Julius Kikoma a Researcher at Makerere University and also the Deputy Head, Directorate of Research at FUE revealed that association initiated the employer of the award survey which is an annual business event geared towards encouraging decent work through promoting the best human resource management/business practices which in turn enhances productivity, organizational competitiveness and corporate sustainability in the county.

Kikoma says this year’s employer of the year award 2024 survey theme is “Employers fostering job creation” since unemployment still remains a thorn in the foot and critical policy challenge in most African countries as well as on the global level.

He disclosed that Uganda remains one of the countries with high levels of youth unemployment despite a positive economic growth and several government interventions with the matter remaining persistent.

Kikoma notes that youths are twice as likely to be unemployed compared to any other age cohort in the Country.

He says this is the sixth edition of the employer of the year award survey and they have continued to grow with more categories now planned for.
