In the heart of Hoima City, a bitter feud has erupted between the families of the late Hajji Rashid Sewali and the late Yusto Kwezi over a coveted 90-acre piece of land located in Katuugo cell, Hoima East City Division.

This land, rich in economic potential, has become a battleground for two families, each laying claim to its ownership.

The roots of this dispute trace back to the legacies left by Hajji Rashid Sewali and Yusto Kwezi. Both men were respected figures in their community, known for their contributions to local development and their commitment to family values.

According to sources, the late Kwezi in 1973 embarked on the process of titling 150 acres of land in the same area, a process which was successful.

He later around 1982 embarked on the process of titling the now contentious 90-acre piece of land but the process was halted mid-way due to the NRA guerrilla war.

According to the family of the late Kwezi, by the time their father resumed the process of finalising the land titling, the late Sewali had secured a title of the disputed land.

This led to a court battle between the two families hence the family of Kwezi was able to secure a caveat on the contentious piece of land as the Hoima High Court determines the rightful owner of the land.

On Saturday, a group of yet to be identified people attacked the family of the late Kwezi burning two motorcycles, destroyed house property, slashed down banana plantations among other things as Bategeka Swaleh Kweezi, a relative of the late Kwezi explains.

Speaking to Spice FM this morning on phone, Bintu Sewali from the late Sewali family has denied having any knowledge about the incidents on the disputed piece of land.

Security was heavily deployed over the weekend on the land following the attack.

Efforts to get a comment from Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson were futile by the time of filling this story.
