Kagadi district technical officers are on sport for extorting money from beneficiaries of the Parish Development Model (PDM) program

The PDM is a government initiative aimed at alleviating poverty among parishes has not yet yielded much since its inception.

According to Poline Epodoi, the district’s Chief Administrative Officer, numerous complaints have been filed regarding extortion by some officers in exchange for benefits from the program.

This has prompted administrative action, and more information is expected to be revealed soon but has not divulged into details.

This has come after five individuals, including a parish chief and leaders associated with PDM groups, were recently arrested in Kagadi for allegedly extorting between 100,000 to 400,000 Ugandan Shillings from each beneficiary. The suspects are currently facing charges of extortion.

The government has taken steps to address these issues, with Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja directing the arrest of Kagadi officials involved in PDM scams.
