A seven-year-old girl has died instantly after a falling tree hit her in Kyamasamba village, Haibaale parish in Kigorobya Sub County, Hoima district on Thursday.
The incident occurred while a group of people were cutting trees, and one of the trees fell in an unexpected direction, hitting the deceased who was collecting firewood killing her instantly.
The Hoima District LC5 Chairman Uthman Mubaraka Mugisha has confirmed the incident, noting that passers-by alerted the lumberers after they saw a child who had fallen on the ground with a branch of a tree on top of her.
The Hoima District Assistant RDC Michael Kyakashari noted the details were still scanty, but a team of detectives had been sent to the scene to investigate the matter and a detailed report would be released in due course.
