Buliisa Tycoon Kaahwa Francis Released on Bail

Buliisa chief magistrates’ court on Tuesday granted bail to Buliisa tycoon Francis Kaahwa after spending nearly four days at Masindi government prison.

Kahwa was arrested last week on Thursday by the state house Anti-corruption Unit together with Criminal investigations directorate and on Friday arraigned him before Buliisa Chief Magistrate’s Court on charges of making a false declaration, 3 counts forgery, and 2 counts of uttering a false document.

He was remanded to Masindi government prison until Tuesday August 20, 2024 when his bail application was heard.

On Tuesday Court presided over by Aggrey Atamba, Senior Magistrate grade one at Buliisa Chief Magistrate’s granted him a cash bail of 3 million shillings and his three sureties included John Bala, Chuii Muzamiru who is the district councilor for Kigwera Sub County, and Gilbert Tibasima who is the Vice Chairperson of Buliisa.

He will return to court on September 19, 2024 for further mention of his case.
