The Hoima Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) has been directed to halt the disbursement of 5.5 billion Ugandan shillings meant for Parish Development Model (PDM) program.

This directive follows overwhelming complaints of extortion against parish chiefs in Hoima district.

The PDM is a government program aimed at enhancing household incomes and promoting socio-economic transformation at the parish level. However, concerns have been raised about the management and utilization of these funds in Hoima district.

Micheal Kyakashari, the Hoima deputy confirms the development saying there are several irregularities or mismanagement issues that need to be investigated before the funds can be released.

Kyakashari says they have also received reports of local leaders faking names of beneficiaries to get the PDM funds.

Hellen Mulumba, the Hoima LCV vice chairperson says the district authorities will next week conduct a verification exercise of all beneficiaries in the district before more funds are released.
