UNFFE Embarks on Digitalising Farmer Operations and Services in Bunyoro

Uganda National Farmers Federation-  UNFFE has embarked on digitalising farmer operations and services in Bunyoro sub region.

This was during a stakeholder’s meeting that was graced by local farmer cooperatives, local government agents, off takers and bulky center leaders to introduce them to MobiPay AgroSys Limited and its services.

MobiPay AgroSys Limited is an Africa-based international technology solutions company registered in Uganda, aiming at improving people’s lives through innovative solutions to drive Agriculture, financial services and boost trade in Africa.

MobiPay offers a technology cloud-based model, an innovation that is designed to create farmer’s visibility, create linkages of small-scale farmers to other value chain players and offer possibilities that were previously unavailable in the agricultural sector.

Speaking during the meeting held at Hoima Kolping Hotel in Hoima City on Monday, Eric Kwabena Agyei the Managing Director, MobiPay Uganda says they are engaging stakeholders to enable them understand the basics of technology adding that they want farmers to create data that is visible to finance institutions so that they can access financial services and market their produce with ease.

Daudi Ssentongo, from UNFFE asked farmers to embrace technology so as to be able to implement more sustainable and environmentally friendly practices.

Meanwhile, Fredric Mpaata the programs manager Innovation Village says farmers will be profiled as data will be picked adding that what has been hindering access to services is lack of visibility therefore asking farmers to embrace technology.
