Police in Kibaale District on Monday evening was forced to fire live bullets during the arrest of a 38-year-old suspected cattle thief and recovered 2 heads of cattle.

Frank Tweheyo, the CID Karuuguza police post, identifies the suspect as Vincent Muguda a resident of Kikaada- Kyentanga village in Bwamiramira Sub County, Kibaale district.

Kabuye Tumwehikye, a resident of Nkenda village in Karama Sub County, Kibaale district says he learned that the cattle had been stolen from a kraal where he had tied them.

An eyewitness says upon a tip off police officers from Karuguuza town post rushed to the scene but Muguda armed with a machete attempted to attack them in resistance, prompting the shooting of live bullets in the air and later he was overpowered and arrested.

Frank Tweheyo the CID officer attached to Karuuguza police post has confirmed that investigations are still ongoing.
