A five year old girl died after the house she was sleeping went up in flames as her mother had gone to visit her lover in Buliisa district.
Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson has identified the deceased as Mercy Afoyorwoth, a daughter to 21-year-old Sharon Kayenyiparwoth, a resident of Katodio village, Ndandamire Ward, Wanseko Town council in Bulisa District.
Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson says on Thursday at around 08:00pm the mother of the deceased locked her inside their rental grass thatched house and went out with her lover.
The neighbors heard the deceased crying inside the house as it was on fire but efforts to save her proved futile as the door was locked.
The fire burnt the body of the deceased beyond recognition.
Inquiries have commenced to identify the suspects and have them arrested. The body is conveyed vat Bulisa General Hospital pending postmortem.
