The Update of the National Resistance Movement party register has kicked off amidst low turn-up in Hoima City.

The exercise which is being conducted across the villages in the country will run from Wednesday 13th-Sunday 17th March 2024. The party seeks to register new supporters from the age of 16 and above as well as update particulars of those already in the register.

During the exercise the party will verify all the members who are active in the party and remove those who are no longer active (especially deceased)

Spice FM visited various register update places within Hoima City but there were few or no persons embracing the exercise.

Bakili Murungi, the registrar of Kiganda 1 polling station and Pius Victor Wabyona, the registrar Kiganda II public library attribute the low turn up to poor mobilization.

They add that since it’s the first day, there is hope that people will turn up with time since it’s a five-day exercise.

Susan Atuhura, the registrar at Kezara polling station in Kiryatete cell and Collins Ategeka, the registrar Hoima Public school reveals that they lacked posters displayed at the various update centres saying many do not know what is taking place.

The Chairman of the NRM Electoral Commission, Dr. Tanga Odoi, last week said the party register will be very important in delivering free and fair internal elections during the 2026 general elections.
