As the Hoima city’s growth and development gains momentum, the demand for public facilities is becoming a big reality.
The only public toilet at Hoima Booma ground has since filled up and sunk in causing a health challenge to the city dwellers who normally use it during several events to answer nature’s call.
Now this has prompted the Hoima City leadership to reach a decision of decommissioning and demolishing it according to Idd Magezi the city councilor representing Hoima East Division.
Badru Mugabi, the Hoima Resident City Commissioner says they have already ordered for the demolition of the old structure adding that the city plans to appropriate resources for the construction of a new facility.
At the Hoima Bus Park, Hoima City is also struggling to construct a new toilet.
Recently the Hoima East Division Member of Parliament donated a sanitary facility that will be constructed in Hoima Taxi Park.
Magezi however denies claims of blocking the construction of the toilet. He reveals that the city is engaging one city dweller (Dr Stella Nguza) over a dispute on the land in the park planned for the facility.
