One Hacked to Death, Two Hospitalised in Kikuube

One person was hacked to death and two others critically injured in Kikuube district on Monday night at around 11pm. The incident happened in Kyangwali Sub County.

The deceased has been identified as Christopher Mababazi 37 while the injured are Francis Byamukama 48 with another only identified as Kasangaki. They are all residents of Kinyamahwa village in Kyangwali Sub County.

Information obtained by Uganda Radio Network reveals that on Monday night, the trio while drinking in a local bar were attacked by John Brown a resident of the same area.

He was armed with a panga and indiscriminately started hacking people in the bar for unknown reasons.

In the process, Mbabazi was hacked on the head, face and neck and died on the way as he was being rushed to Kyangwali health center III while Byamukama and Kasangaki sustained deep injuries to their heads, faces and necks.

They were rushed for treatment at Kyangwali health center III where they are currently admitted.

Lawrence Maani, the area LCI Chairperson says, it is not clear why Brown raided the bar and started hacking people adding that after the incident, the suspect fled the village to an unknown destination.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson has confirmed the incident and that investigations have been initiated to ensure that the suspect is arrested.

He says, the deceased’s body was picked by the police who conveyed it to the Kikuube health center IV for postmortem, and was later handed over to the relatives for burial.

According to Hakiza, the postmortem report indicated that the deceased succumbed to injuries inflicted on him by his attacker.
