The Kagadi District Resident Commissioner Lilian Ruteraho has cancelled the launching exercise for the maternity ward block at Kabuga Health Center III in Muhorro Sub County after the contractor presented contradicting Bills of Quantities (BoQs)
The Contractor Banob Plus Uganda Limited was awarded a contract to take over the construction works for phase one of the project that will build a block up to the beam level, but while at the launch, the contractor presented two BoQs at Sh140M and the second at Sh152M which raised suspicion of embezzlement.
Banob Plus Uganda Limited is owned by the Kagadi district NRM administrative secretary Obed Ambikiize.
RDC Ruteraho suspended all construction Works at the site until they hold an emergency meeting to rectify the mess.
The Kagadi district Deputy Chief Administrative Officer Robert Mugabe commended the RDC’s decision of suspending the launch, threatening to interdict some staff in the engineering department over corruption tendencies.
He guided the heads of departments to always prepare the bills of quantities in time and submit them to the office of the CAO before launching any project.
Meanwhile, Ndibwami B Yosia the Kagadi district LCV Chairperson disclosed that the BOQs lacked breakdown.
