Drivers in Hoima City are concerned over the increased street parking of trucks along pavements and on the streets of Hoima town causing traffic jam and accidents.
Across the streets of Hoima City right from Main Street, Old Tooro Road, Rukurato Road and Hoima Kampala road among others, there is unregulated parking of trucks together with boda boda cyclists and cars, which has narrowed roads. This makes it difficult for pedestrians and cars to move with a lot of hurdles.
The already narrow roads have become hot spots for accidents as drivers, pedestrians and motorists attempt to negotiate and maneuver through the roads due to double parking.
Ham Mugisa, the Chairperson Taxi and Bus Park Drivers Association calls on traffic to collaborate with Hoima City leadership to regulate the time such trucks spend on the road especially those that offload goods.
Furthermore, Mugisa has asked Hoima City authorities to demarcate roads especially zebra crossings for pedestrians to understand where they are supposed to pass.
