Three Arrested Over Murder in Kakumiro

Three people are in custody at the Kakumiro central police station for alleged murder. The suspects are Isaya Kyamagelo 20, Jimmy Ninzeyimana 20, and Sowali Menya 31, all residents of Betania village in Kagoma parish, Kikoora sub-county in Kakumiro district.

They are accused of murdering Tadeo Tukundane 22, a resident of the same area.  It is alleged that around 11 pm on Christmas day the trio connived and severely beat their victim for unknown reasons leaving him in a coma. He sustained deep cuts on the head and neck.

Tukundane was reportedly rushed to Kikoora Community Medical Center for treatment where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Alex Mawonge, a resident explained that they heard the victim screaming for help and rushed to find out what was happening to him, only to find him lying unconscious in a pool of blood.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson says, the three suspects who are currently being detained at Kakumiro police station are cooperating with detectives. He says murder charges have already been preferred against them adding that once investigations are through, the suspects will be arraigned before the court to be charged accordingly.
