Kinyara Sugar Launches Educational Quiz Competitions to Enhance Learning

In a bid to improve education standards in Masindi district, Kinyara Sugar Works Limited has kicked off annual quiz competition for pupils in selected primary schools in the district.

Speaking during the preparatory quiz exercise organized on Tuesday ahead of main quiz competitions to be held on Friday this week at the Social Club at the company premises, Aldon Walukamba, the company’s Corporate Communication Officer revealed that they are now embarking on engaging the pupils and the teachers to work together towards promoting education in Bunyoro region.

He adds that the questions answered will help to prepare learners for the promotional and final exams annually.

He says 11 schools supported by Kinyara Sugar Works Limited are set to participate in Friday’s quiz competitions where the best three learners and teachers will be rewarded with cash prizes adding that the competitions will be extended to other schools and more stakeholders will be brought on board to promote the education sector in the region.

Roy Patrick Katusabe, the Kinyara Sugar Works Limited Human Resource Supervisor for Community Service adds that the competitions are aimed at empowering learners with messages aimed at eliminating a number of human activities that affect sugar production at the factory like cane chewing and fires which have remained a threat to sugar production.

Ronald Tumwesige, the deputy director of studies at Kinyara Sugar Works primary school one of the beneficiary school’s says the quiz competitions will support them positively academically as well as sensitize learners on sugar cane safety who in turn spread the message to the community they come from.
