The Kagadi District Inter-Religious Council Leaders (IRC-Kagadi) have defied the decision that was recently taken by the Bishop of Bunyoro Kitara Diocese RT. Rev.Samuel Kahuma of lifting a ban on politicians in Kagadi from attending churches and events led by church leaders under Kagadi inter-religious council over the creation of Kapyemi healing city within the boundaries of Kagadi district.
The Kagadi inter-religious council leaders took the decision Thursday during their meeting that was held at St. Mary’s Kagadi catholic parish in Kagadi town council, Kagadi district.
According to Abesiga Wyclif, the Kagadi inter-religious council spokesperson, they have never agreed on lifting any standing ban from the accused politicians in Kagadi district.
Over the weekend, the Bishop of Bunyoro Kitara Diocese RT.Rev. Samuel Kahuma while at Naigana church of Uganda, lifted a ban of suspending the Kagadi district LC5 chairperson Ndibwami B Yosia and other politicians from attending churches and events led by church leaders saying nobody in Uganda is allowed to deny anyone chance from attending church and events organized by the church.
Bishop Kahuma argued that every Ugandan has a right to e freedom of worship and speech.
However, Abesiga says their decisions against the politicians in still stands.
Abesiga says during the Thursday meeting, they further maintained other two resolutions which included, joint prayers that will be held on October 15, 2023 at St. Mary’s Kagadi Catholic church starting at 2pm to pray for Kagadi district and its leaders.
The other resolution is an order to the LCV Chairman Ndibwam B Yosia to withdraw the original document he delivered to the minister of Local Government supporting the creation of Kapyemi healing city with the boundaries of Kagadi district.
