The preparation for Hoima City Carnival has gained momentum as MTN Uganda injected Sh20 million  in the first ever carnival in Bunyoro region.

The city was also selected by the ministry of tourism to host this year’s World Tourism Day which slated to take place on September 27, 2023 under the theme “Tourism and Green Investment”.

While handing over the funds, Andre Tusubira, the regional commercial head MTN Uganda says MTN has decided to sponsor the carnival because of good initiatives which promote the city in Uganda and outside

He adds that Hoima City decided to be in the Digital Environment and for that case they had to intervene and sponsor the city and its customers who will benefit from this carnival through selling various items.

Hoima City Mayor Brian Kaboyo says the City Carnival will be an annual event held every August.

He notes that this time, the carnival is being held in September to align with the World Tourism Day.

He notes that the carnival will start on 26th of this month and it will end on 30th of this month with a bee hive of activities such as mayor’s conference, heath camp, business symposium, bicycle racing and visiting Bunyoro’s cultural sites.
