The police in Kikuube are actively pursuing unidentified individuals who gang-raped a woman and strangled her to death. The victim has been identified as Provia Ninsiima, 40, a resident of Rwenkobe village in Kaseeta parish, Kabwoya sub-county.
Reports suggest that she went missing from her around 9 p.m. on a Sunday evening. Felix Akankwasa, the LCI Chairperson of Rwenkobe village, says the local community initiated a search for Ninsiima as soon as her disappearance was noticed. They promptly alerted the police, who joined forces with concerned residents to locate the missing individual.
Akankwasa revealed that the lifeless body of the deceased was discovered on Monday evening lying within a sugar cane plantation in the same village. Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson, said the victim’s lifeless body was retrieved and transported to Kikuube Health Center IV for a postmortem examination. He explained that the postmortem report shows that the woman was gang raped before being strangled to death.
Hakiza said police had commenced a search for the suspects responsible for the brutal murder. He urged members of the public to collaborate with the police by providing any valuable information that could facilitate the arrest and detention of the culprits. The deceased’s remains have been handed over to her relatives for burial arrangements.
