Police in Kibaale District is holding two siblings for allegedly murdering their father over land.
The deceased has been identified as 63-year-old Benedicto Kato, a resident of Muzizi LC1, Kitutu Parish in Karama sub county in Kibaale.
The suspects are Mary Komuhimbo aged 34 year and Twinomujuni Nyamutale aged 40 years.
Julius Allan Hakiza the Albertine region police spokesperson says the deceased was attacked and beaten to death by unknown people at around 2am on Monday morning when he had gone to the latrine to answer a nature’s call.
Hakiza adds that when his wife Gertrude Kobusinge heard her husband call for help, she came out to see what was happening but she was also beaten by the attackers who also stormed the house and beat up all children who were sleeping.
According to police preliminary information, the assailants wanted to kill the entire family.
The man was rushed to Kyegegwa hospital where he was pronounced dead while the woman is nursing injuries at Mubende hospital.
Hakiza says two family members have been arrested in connection to the incident since they have been feuding with the late over land.
