Police in Kakumiro district are investigating the murder of a 19-year-old woman by unknown assailants.
The deceased is Joan Teddy Nabwaya, an employee at New life bar and lodge and resident of Kiriisa village, Kikanda parish in Kasambya sub county.
Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson says preliminary police reports indicate that the deceased who was in the lodge with a man identified as 21-year-old Alex Muhumuza was attacked by two men at around 3am Thursday morning.
Hakiza explains that the assailants who were armed with pangas and torches forcefully broke the door and accessed the room where the duo was resting.
It’s alleged that the deceased had separated with her husband on Sunday last week. The man allegedly vowed to harm the woman.
Nabwaya was hacked to death while Muhumuza’s arm was cut several times. Muhumuza is nursing injuries at kakumiro health center IV.
Hakiza says police is hunting for the assailants including the former husband to the deceased to help police with investigations.
