Three candidates have so far picked nomination and supporters’ forms ahead of the Hoima district LCV Chairperson By-election which is due September 14.

The trio is Micheal Byakagaba and Uthumani Mugisa from Kitoba sub county as well as Savanah Vincent Muhumuza from Kabaale Sub County.

For one to be nominated for a post of district LCV chairperson, it will require signatures of 50 supporters per Sub County in all 14 sub counties. The supporters must not sign for more than one candidate and must be genuine voters appearing in the national voters’ register as well as having their national identification cards (NIDs).

Merab Kassande, the Hoima district election administrator says there will not be any forgery in securing the 50 supporters per sub county and urges candidates to ensure an equal and fair representation of electoral areas across the district.

Kassande challenges candidates to be serious about the nomination process especially on securing the signatures of their supporters in order to qualify for nomination.

She adds that for councilor representing Katereiga parish to Buhanika sub county, only five signatures of their supporters are required for nomination.

The electoral commission has scheduled 30 and 31 August as the official dates for nomination of candidates for the Hoima district LCV By election.

Meanwhile the display exercise of the national voter’s register which kicked off on August 9 ends this Friday with the election administrator revealing a good turn up of those confirming their details in the register.
