Three People Hacked in Kikuube District

Unknown assailants have hacked and critically injured three people in Kikuube district.

The victims are Ivan Bikandema, Habib Taremwa and Lawrence Byahanga, all residents of Bujugu village in Bugambe sub-county, Kikuube district. They were attacked while on their way to a traditional introduction party in Kiyora village. The incident happened at around 2 a.m. on Sunday.

Innocent Ahimbisibwe, the chairperson of Kiyora village, says the victims from Bujugu village had gone to Kiyora to enjoy a night disco which was organized for a traditional introduction ceremony of the daughter of late Patrick Karezi, a resident of the same area when they were waylaid.

The injured victims have since been admitted to Hoima Hospital with severe injuries sustained on the head, hands and legs. Zubair Ngombange, father to one of the victims says his son’s leg and arm were cut off during the attack.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson has condemned the act adding that police have launched investigations and the hunt for the suspects is ongoing.
