Suspected Thief Lynched in Buhimba

Police in Kikuube district is investigating a circumstance under which a suspected motorcycle thief was lynched to death by an angry mob in Kyabatalya in Buhimba town council in Kikuube district.

The incident occurred in Nyakibengo stream, Buhimba town council after the angry mob besieged two people who were moving on a suspected stolen motorcycle from Kagadi district.

Sources say the incident occurred Tuesday morning at around 7am after a section of Boda boda cyclists from Buhimba town council were alerted by their colleagues from Kagadi town council about a stolen motorcycle that was being taken to Hoima city by the suspected thieves.

The deceased whose identities were not established by the time of filling this story is suspected to have stolen the motorcycle on Monday night. The other occupant escaped from the mob.

However, sources say before he was killed, the man told the mob that he was a passenger and the the owner of the motorcycle was the one that had taken off.

Susan Kabasindi, the councillor for Buhimba town council says that the deceased was intercepted by a section of residents and motorcylists in Buhimba town council who stoned him to death.

She condemned the act of mob justice adding that the act sometimes results into the killing of innocent people and warned the public against such acts.
