The Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development Judith Nabakooba will on May 19, 2023 hand over freehold land titles to several residents in Kagadi district. The land titles will be given at a free cost to the locals.

The minister says there are rampant cases of land grabbing in the district which have necessitated the need for issuance of land titles to residents to protect them from evictions.

According to a letter dated April 28, 2023 addressed to the chairperson Uganda Land Commission, after the handover of the land titles to the beneficiaries, Minister Nabakooba will on May 20 head to Ndaiga, Kyaterekera and Mpeefu for a boundary opening and compassionate valuation of the disputed area.

She will be accompanied by a team of surveyors and valuers from the ministry who will lead in surveying the disputed land.

Minister Nabakooba says the exercise intends to be to end the long outstanding land disputes in Kagadi district.
