Bunyoro Kitara kingdom Prime Minister Andrew Byakutanga has called on religious leaders to mobilize Kingdom subjects to embrace education of their children.
Byakutaga made the call on Sunday while officiating Mary’s day celebrations organized by members of Mother Union at All Saint’s Church City parish in East Division in Hoima city.
He noted that there is need for the Kingdom subjects to invest in the education of their children if the Kingdom is to achieve it transformation and restore its glory.
He also expressed concern that there are several technical institutions in Bunyoro region but statistics show that there are few children from Bunyoro in these institutions.
According to him, the enrollment of learners of from BKK at Kigumba Petroleum Institute is 11%, at Hoima School of Nursing and Midwifery is 20% while at Uganda Technical College Kyema in Masindi is 20% and Buhimba technical institute in Kikuube district it is still low.
He says these institutions are providing skills which will help people to grab opportunities in oil and gas industry become self-reliant but unfortunately people of Bunyoro have left them to be utilized by children from outside the Kingdom.
About Mary’s day celebration, Byakutanga described Mary as a hero and challenged women to emulate her example when managing their families.
He also underscored role played by women in the development of the family and challenged Christian women to advocate for food security in families to be able to have stable families.
