President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has rallied Ugandans to support the government’s agenda of social economic transformation.
Museveni says this can be done through compulsory free education for school going children and participation and embracement of the wealth creation programs.
This was contained in his speech delivered by the Prime Minister Rt. Hon Robinah Nabbanja during the burial ceremony for the fallen Bishop Emeritus of Hoima catholic diocese Rt. Rev Edward Albert Baharagate Akiiki on Wednesday afternoon at Our lady of Lourdes Bujumbura catholic parish.
The president who offered Sh20m as condelence says some Ugandans are yet to embrace the money economy and still locked in working only for survival which is not sustainable. Nabbanja also contributed 5 million shillings on her behalf towards the burial arrangements.
Museveni described the late Bishop Baharagate as one who embraced humility and used his position in society to promote peace, unity and development.
Andrew Byakutaaga, the Prime minister of Bunyoro Kitara kingdom challenged parents to educate their children in order benefit from opportunities in the oil and gas sector and emulate the late Bishop who studied up to the level of Doctorate of philosophy (PHD).
Byakutaaga revealed only 20% are Bunyoro students at Uganda petroleum institute in Kigumba, Kiryandongo district.
