Delayed Land Acquisition Hampering Operationalisation of Bunyoro University

The delayed acquisition of land is hampering efforts of kick-starting the operationalization of Bunyoro University.

In August 17 2021 while meeting the Bunyoro Caucus leaders led by the Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja at State House Entebbe President Yoweri Museveni has Okayed the process of operationalization of the Earth and Applied Sciences Public University in Bunyoro sub region.

In July 2022, the minister of Education and Sports, Ms Janet Kataha Museveni, has appointed Prof Samuel Kyamanywa to head the taskforce for the establishment of Bunyoro University. Government then set aside Sh2bn to enable the task force start its work.

Speaking at a consultative meeting held at Bunyoro Kingdom Plaza between Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom official’s, Bunyoro University Task Force committee and the joint venture partners, Petroleum Authority of Uganda and Uganda National Oil Coperation-UNOC, the Chairperson Bunyoro University task force professor Samuel Kyamanywa says all local governments in Bunyoro region have not yet given out land formally.

 

Kyamanywa adds that they have started developing programs that will be taught at Bunyoro University.
